One of the reasons I am thankful for sunshine is because it simply cheers me up. There is something about being in a place where there is a lot of cloud cover that just depresses me. But sunshine, on the other hand, is bright and happy and cheerful.
Another reason I love the sunshine is because it allows us to do things we couldn't, or wouldn't, do if it was cloudy and cold. For example, yesterday we took the kids down to Colorado Springs for the BYU vs. Air Force football game. It was beautiful football weather! The sun was shining, it wasn't too cold, the sky was blue. We wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves nearly as much if it had been cloudy and cold. But it wasn't! It was, well, perfect for a late fall football game!
My brother, Matt, and his wife, Layna,
rode down with us and we met my mom and our good friends, the Milligan's, for a tailgate party. We ate clam chowder and beef stew, drank hot chocolate,
and played football. We spent some time wandering around the BYU Alumni tent, greeting people that we know and taking "cherished" photographs (like the fam wih Cosmo and Lexi with the cheerleaders).
I love college football! The fans,
the teams,
(BYU warms us with a Polynesian?/Samoan?/Tongan? dance.)
the cheerleaders...
and at Air Force games, I love the parachute jumpers and the fighter jet fly overs! SO COOL!It was a beautiful, sunny, fall day! And a great day for fun and family!
And to make the sunny day even more perfect, BYU won - 38 to 24! Way to go, Cougars! Stomp Utah next week!
